SpamExperts can send you regular overviews of filtered emails. Previously, the function mainly used for this was Protection Reports<\/strong> used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protection Reports are still available in SpamExperts, but are now considered legacy function<\/strong>. N-able recommends the more modern ones for new configurations Email Scout Reports (ESR)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CURIAWEB recommendation:<\/strong> If you want to set up a new spam report today, use an Email Scout Report if possible. Existing Protection Reports may continue to work, but should no longer be the preferred solution for new setups.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

What are protection reports?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Protection Reports were designed to regularly inform users about messages that SpamExperts has detected as spam and moved to quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the report type, such overviews could be sent, for example, for an entire domain or individual mailboxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A typical use case:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SpamExperts filters incoming emails\n             \u2193\nSpam is quarantined\n             \u2193\nProtection Report\n             \u2193\nUser receives overview via email<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
This meant that the spam quarantine did not have to be opened manually all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why are protection reports no longer the preferred solution today?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
N-able now labels Protection Reports as Legacy<\/strong> and announces their future replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For new reports, the manufacturer recommends instead Email Scout Reports<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Email Scout Reports are more flexible because they are based on search criteria from the SpamExperts logs and can be scheduled and configured much more precisely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important:<\/strong> If you already have a Protection Report set up and working reliably, you do not need to change it prematurely. However, for new setups, an Email Scout Report is the more future-proof choice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
What are email scout reports?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Email Scout Reports<\/strong>, short ESR<\/strong>, are scheduled or one-off sent reports based on a SpamExperts log search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can use this to define which messages should appear in a report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When is an email scout report useful?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
An email scout report is suitable, for example, if you want to regularly receive an overview of filtered or quarantined messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This can be particularly helpful for business-critical mailboxes because users do not constantly have to check the SpamExperts Control Panel themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, a report does not replace a log search when a specific email needs to be investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For detailed troubleshooting, we continue to use the SpamExperts Log Search<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Open SpamExperts Control Panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Open SpamExperts via your CURIAWEB customer center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then check that you have opened the correct domain or the appropriate administrative level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We declare the registration under Login to the SpamExperts Dashboard via the CURIAWEB Customer Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. Create a basis for an Email Scout Report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
A custom email scout report is based on a search in the email log.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To do this, depending on the desired message traffic, open:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Incoming \u2192 Logs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
or:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outgoing \u2192 Logs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then define via the available search filters which messages should be included in the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical Tip:<\/strong> First, consider what information you actually need on a regular basis. A report with too many irrelevant messages is quickly ignored.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
3. Check search results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
First execute the log search and check the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Email Scout Report will use these search criteria later. Therefore, you should make sure that the current search actually delivers the desired messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only after that should you create a report from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Create email scout report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
If the log search yields the desired results, you can create an email scout report from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SpamExperts provides the function for this in the log search Email me this report<\/strong> available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This opens the report configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
5. Set subject<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Define a unique subject line for the report email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The subject line should indicate which domain or report it is about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
