You can enter your CURIAWEB email address directly in the pre-installed Mail app on your iPhone or iPad<\/strong> set up. Afterwards, you can receive, reply to, and send emails via Apple Mail without having to log in to webmail every time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the setup, we recommend IMAP<\/strong>. Your emails remain stored on the mail server and can be synchronized between multiple devices as well as webmail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important:<\/strong> Before you begin, the desired email account must already be set up on your CURIAWEB hosting. You will need your full email address and the password for the email account in question.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

You need these CURIAWEB email settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For the setup, you use your email account credentials and the mail server of your own domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IMAP or POP3 \u2013 which one should you use?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Apple Mail can generally retrieve email accounts via IMAP or POP3. For normal use with CURIAWEB, we recommend IMAP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With IMAP, the messages remain stored on the mail server. This allows changes to be synchronized between different devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is especially practical if you use the same email account on your iPhone, iPad, computer, and additionally via webmail, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A message read on the iPhone can also appear as read on the computer as a result. If you move or delete a message, this change is also synchronized with the server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

POP3, on the other hand, is more focused on retrieving messages to a single device. For modern use across multiple devices, IMAP is therefore usually the better choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Our recommendation:<\/strong> Use IMAP with port on iPhone and iPad 993<\/code> and an encrypted SSL\/TLS connection.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Add an email account on your iPhone or iPad<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Open the app on your iPhone or iPad Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then go to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Settings \u2192 Apps \u2192 Mail \u2192 Mail Accounts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tap on Add account<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple will now show you various well-known email providers. A regular CURIAWEB email address is not an iCloud, Google, Yahoo, or Outlook.com account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, choose the option for a other account<\/strong> or rather Add another account<\/strong> and then Email account<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enter name, email address, and password<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Apple Mail is now asking for the basic information for your email account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

or, in the case of multiple accounts, a more descriptive name such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then tap on Continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attention:<\/strong> The password for the email account is not automatically the same as your password for the CURIAWEB customer center or cPanel. Use the password that was set for the respective email address.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Select IMAP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If Apple Mail cannot automatically determine the settings, the manual server configuration appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose above IMAP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server must be entered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enter incoming mail server<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the section Incoming email server<\/strong> do you use the following settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important:<\/strong> Username and password must also be entered for the outgoing mail server. Authentication is required for SMTP sending.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Why does the outgoing mail server also need a password?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Upon receiving, Apple Mail logs in to the IMAP server. Upon sending, a separate login to the SMTP server takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, Apple Mail requires valid credentials for both the incoming and outgoing mail servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In both cases, you use your full email address as the username and the password of the respective email account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verify and save account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After entering the server data, tap Continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple Mail is now trying to connect to the mail server and verify the entered credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The review may take a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the settings have been successfully verified, make sure that Mail<\/strong> is activated for the account and save the configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which ports does CURIAWEB use?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For an encrypted connection, you use the following ports in the standard CURIAWEB mail configuration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For iPhone and iPad, we recommend IMAP over port 993<\/code><\/strong>. For shipping, you use SMTP over port 465<\/code><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SSL\/TLS should be enabled<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An encrypted SSL\/TLS connection should be used for incoming and outgoing mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other things, this ensures that logging into the mail server and the communication between your iPhone or iPad and the server are transmitted in encrypted form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety Notice:<\/strong> Use encrypted connections via IMAP 993<\/code> and SMTP 465<\/code>. You shouldn't simply ignore certificate warnings or permanently accept them.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Send first test email<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After the account has been set up, open the Mail app<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a new message and send it as a test to another email address you have access to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then check:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. whether the message is sent without an error message<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. whether it reaches the recipient<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. whether a response arrives on your iPhone or iPad<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This tests both outgoing SMTP sending and incoming IMAP reception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Receiving works, but sending doesn't<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If you can receive emails but sending fails, the IMAP connection is basically working. The problem is then often with the configuration of the SMTP server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
