Alternatively, you can transfer the domain completely from Green to CURIAWEB and also manage the domain through CURIAWEB in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Briefly explained:<\/strong> If you only want to move your hosting to CURIAWEB, the domain can remain with Green. If you also want to transfer the domain management, you will need a domain transfer and the transfer code from Green.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 1: Leave domain at Green and use CURIAWEB hosting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Domain registration and web hosting are technically separate services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A domain registered with Green can therefore continue to be managed and renewed there while your website is operated via CURIAWEB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are basically two possibilities for this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You change the nameservers at Green to the CURIAWEB nameservers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You keep the Green nameservers and only update the required DNS records in the DNS zone at Green.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We explain the differences in more detail under <a href=\"\/en\/help\/domains-dns\/domain-bei-anderem-anbieter-mit-curiaweb-hosting-verbinden\/\">Keep domain with another registrar and connect to CURIAWEB Hosting<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enter CURIAWEB nameservers at Green<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green allows you to change the nameservers of a domain registered there via the customer portal <strong>my.green.ch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proceed as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in with your MY user account at <strong>my.green.ch<\/strong> a.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the menu item <strong>All domains<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the column <strong>Nameserver<\/strong> do you see the currently configured nameservers for the domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the relevant domain <strong>Pen icon<\/strong>, to edit the nameservers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disable the option <strong>Use standard nameservers<\/strong>, if it is enabled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the CURIAWEB nameservers in the fields provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CURIAWEB nameservers are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>ns1.curiaweb.ch\nns2.curiaweb.ch<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find more information at <a href=\"\/en\/help\/domains-dns\/find-curiaweb-nameserver\/\">Finding and correctly using CURIAWEB nameservers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> Prepare the DNS zone in CURIAWEB before you change the nameservers of a domain that is in productive use. The existing DNS configuration at Green is not automatically transferred to CURIAWEB when you change the nameservers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What should be considered with DNSSEC?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If DNSSEC is enabled for your domain at Green, this must be taken into account before changing nameservers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green explicitly points out that DNSSEC must be deactivated before changing the nameservers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deactivation at Green is done via the DNSSEC management of the domain in question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green also points out that the deactivation or activation of DNSSEC can take up to 48 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Attention:<\/strong> Do not simply change the nameservers of a domain secured with DNSSEC. A DNSSEC configuration that does not match the new DNS zone can cause validating resolvers to no longer resolve the domain correctly.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Special feature regarding .ch domains and DNSSEC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green points out that in <code>.ch<\/code>-Domains DNSSEC can be secured by SWITCH under certain circumstances in accordance with their guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Green, as a registrar, it has no direct influence on this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If DNSSEC in a <code>.ch<\/code>-If the domain is active and a nameserver change is planned, the current DNSSEC status should therefore be checked before the switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check existing DNS configuration before switching<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before changing the nameservers from Green to CURIAWEB, you should document which DNS records are currently required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the website, for example, the following services can depend on the DNS zone:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subdomains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SPF<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DKIM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DMARC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>external services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Domain Verifications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the <a href=\"\/en\/dns-check\/\">CURIAWEB DNS-Check<\/a> can you check publicly visible DNS information of your domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find a detailed guide on this at <a href=\"\/en\/help\/domains-dns\/dns-eintraege-pruefen\/\">Check DNS records: View current DNS configuration of a domain<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I keep the Green nameservers?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don't necessarily have to change the nameservers to CURIAWEB to use CURIAWEB hosting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to keep DNS management with Green, the Green nameservers can remain active. You then simply adjust the DNS records that should point to your CURIAWEB hosting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can make sense if your DNS zone already contains several external services or if you intentionally want to keep DNS management with Green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Edit DNS entries at Green<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green provides the Web &amp; Mail Control Panel for managing the DNS zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the current Green documentation, you proceed as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to <strong>my.green.ch<\/strong> a.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open at <strong>Shared Hosting<\/strong> the area <strong>All domains<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for the desired domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the corresponding icon for DNS management next to the domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The DNS zone will then be opened in the management portal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There you can choose between <strong>Automatic DNS Management<\/strong> and <strong>Manual DNS management<\/strong> choose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With manual management, existing DNS records can be edited, deleted, or new records can be added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Attention:<\/strong> Green explicitly points out that when switching from <strong>Manual DNS management<\/strong> on <strong>Automatic DNS Management<\/strong> all existing manual DNS entries will be irrevocably deleted and replaced with default values. Therefore, do not change this setting thoughtlessly.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which DNS records does Green support?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the current Green documentation, the following record types, among others, can be created in DNS management:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AAAA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CAA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CNAME<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MX<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SRV<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TXT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which of these entries are required for your domain depends on your specific configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We explain the most important DNS record types at <a href=\"\/en\/help\/domains-dns\/dns-eintraege-a-aaaa-cname-mx-txt-caa\/\">DNS Records Explained: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, and CAA<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which DNS records do I need to change for CURIAWEB?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That depends on which services are actually going to switch to CURIAWEB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If only the website is moving, you shouldn't automatically change the email configuration either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the website, for example, A, AAAA, or CNAME records can be relevant. For email, on the other hand, MX and TXT records play a particular role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> For the connection to CURIAWEB, use exclusively the specific server or DNS data of your hosting account. A general guide cannot name a valid IP address for all CURIAWEB hosting accounts.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How long does a nameserver change take at Green?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green states that up to <strong>48 hours<\/strong> it can take for new nameserver entries to become visible worldwide via DNS servers or resolvers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not mean that every nameserver change takes exactly 48 hours. Depending on existing DNS caches and TTL values, different resolvers may provide different information during a transition phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We explain the technical background at <a href=\"\/en\/help\/domains-dns\/dns-propagation-erklaert\/\">What is DNS propagation and why does a DNS change take time?<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 2: Transfer domain from Green to CURIAWEB<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to transfer your domain management from Green to CURIAWEB in addition to hosting, you need a domain transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green charges for an outgoing domain transfer a <strong>Transfer code<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the context, this is also referred to as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Transfer code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Auth Code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AUTHCode<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EPP code<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">referred to as.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Request transfer code from Green<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the current Green documentation, you receive the transfer code by canceling the relevant domain position in the customer portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To do this, generally proceed as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to <strong>my.green.ch<\/strong> a.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the management of your services or the relevant domain entry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Record the cancellation for the domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply in the designated area <strong>Text field explicitly a transfer code<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the cancellation via the customer portal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After processing by Green, you will receive the transfer code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> Green explicitly points out in its current manual that when cancelling, you must request a transfer code in the text field. A domain cancellation without this notice should therefore not be understood as an automatic way to issue the transfer code.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How long is the Green Transfer Code valid?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green points out that the transfer code is only valid for a limited time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to current Green documentation, the transfer code is <strong>usually valid for 10 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You should therefore carry out the transfer promptly and not request the code long before the planned registrar change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the transfer code is no longer valid, a new code can be requested from Green customer service via the customer portal, according to Green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will my domain be deleted immediately upon cancellation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Green states that the domain will remain registered for the already paid period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the domain <strong>before the cancellation date<\/strong> be transferred to CURIAWEB or to the new registrar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the transfer is not completed on time, the domain may be deleted by the responsible registry after expiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Attention:<\/strong> Do not request the transfer code and leave the domain unattended afterwards. As soon as the outgoing transfer is scheduled, you should execute it in good time before the cancellation date.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do I do with the transfer code?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the transfer code received from Green to authorize the domain transfer to CURIAWEB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Treat the code confidentially. It should neither be published publicly nor shared with unknown recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We explain the general procedure under <a href=\"\/en\/help\/domains-dns\/domain-transfer-to-curiaweb\/\">Domain transfer to CURIAWEB: How the transfer works<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do I also need to unlock the domain at Green?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether an additional transfer approval is required in addition to the transfer code depends on the specific domain extension and its current status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, it should not be claimed across the board that every domain registered with Green must be unlocked via a separate registrar lock switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a transfer cannot be carried out despite a valid transfer code, the specific error message or the domain status should be checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find more information at <a href=\"\/en\/help\/domains-dns\/unlock-domain-for-transfer\/\">Unlock domain for transfer: Registrar Lock and transfer lock explained<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do I need to change the nameservers before the domain transfer?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No, not fundamentally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Domain transfer and nameserver changes are technically different processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the previous DNS infrastructure can continue to be used after the registrar change and the website and email function correctly, the nameservers do not need to be changed just because of the transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, if the domain, hosting, and DNS are all to be moved away from Green at the same time, it must be clarified in advance where the DNS zone will be operated afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Practical Tip:<\/strong> Before a complete switch, document the current nameservers and DNS records. This allows you to prepare the new DNS zone and check after the transition whether the website, email, and other services are functioning correctly.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens to my website at Green?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A domain transfer does not automatically copy your website to CURIAWEB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Website files and databases belong to the hosting and must be transferred separately to the new hosting environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The existing green hosting should therefore not be terminated as long as the website is still operated there or data is needed for the migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens to my email accounts at Green?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Email accounts and existing messages are not automatically transferred to CURIAWEB during a domain transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the email accounts are also to be changed, the accounts must be set up in the new hosting environment and existing messages migrated if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If email is to continue being operated through Green or another provider, the required MX and other DNS records must be retained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You don't want to migrate your website and emails yourself?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If not only your domain, but also your website and email accounts are to be transferred from Green to CURIAWEB, you do not have to perform the technical migration yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CURIAWEB handles the migration of a website, including databases and email mailboxes, for new customers as part of the <a href=\"\/en\/website-relocation-service\/\">Free moving service<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new hosting environment is being prepared before the final DNS switchover takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Practical Tip:<\/strong> If you want to use our moving service, do not cancel your previous green hosting prematurely and do not change nameservers or DNS records on suspicion.
