Effective Communication through Mailing Lists

With Mailing Lists, you can send messages to any number of recipients via a single central email address. Whether for internal team updates or public newsletters – the integration of Mailman into your cPanel provides professional control and archiving options.

cPanel Mailing Lists Overview

1. Create a New List

Navigate to the Email -> Mailing Lists section and fill in the fields:

  • List Name: The name before the @ sign (e.g., team or news).
  • Privacy:
    • Private: Only members approved by the admin; archive is not public.
    • Public: Open subscription; archive can be viewed by anyone.

2. Management and Delegation

Once the list is created, you will find all important control functions in the Current Lists table:

Manage Opens the detailed Mailman interface. Here you configure reply-to addresses, footer texts, and subscription rules.
Delegation Assign admin rights to other users. Delegates can moderate messages without knowing the cPanel password.

3. Spam Protection for Your List

To protect your mailing list from unwanted promotional messages, you can activate the spam filter directly in Mailman:

  1. Click Manage next to the list.
  2. Select Privacy Options at the top and then Spam Filters.
  3. Enter filter rules (based on the SpamAssassin spam score) to immediately sort out dubious emails.
Security Tip: Use a strong, separate password for list management. You can overwrite this at any time in cPanel via the "Change Password" function if it has been lost.
