Protection from Unwanted Emails
CURIAWEB uses the powerful Apache SpamAssassin to protect your inbox from spam, phishing, and virus-infected messages. The system analyzes every incoming mail and assigns a score based on typical spammer characteristics.

1. The Spam Threshold: How strictly should it filter?
Every email receives points. The higher the score, the more likely it is to be spam. You can determine at which value a mail is flagged:
Filters very strictly. Risk: Even "real" emails often end up in spam.
The recommended setting for most users.
Only obvious spam is detected. Many promotional emails will get through.
2. Spam Box vs. Auto-Delete
You have two options for how the system should handle detected spam:
- Spam Box (Recommended): Suspicious emails are moved to a separate folder. This allows you to recover accidentally sorted emails. Important: Empty this folder regularly as it counts toward your storage quota.
- Auto-Delete: Emails are immediately and irrevocably deleted. Only use this with very high thresholds (e.g., Score 10) to avoid data loss.
3. Whitelists & Blacklists (Advanced Settings)
Sometimes technology makes mistakes. That's what manual lists are for:
| Whitelist | Addresses or domains that should always be delivered (e.g., *@partnercompany.ch). |
| Blacklist | Addresses from which you never want to receive messages. |
Use the asterisk
* as a wildcard. *@example.com allows or blocks all senders from that domain.Still too much advertising in your inbox despite the filter? Our Support Team will be happy to analyze your header data and help you fine-tune the settings!
