Additional Features for Your Website (cPAddons)

The Site Software feature allows you to install and manage so-called cPAddons. These are pre-configured software packages such as blogs, forums, or e-commerce solutions that can be deployed to your hosting account with just a few clicks.

Note: Many of these features are now replaced by more modern tools like the WordPress Manager or Softaculous. Site Software is primarily used for managing older installations or specific system addons provided by your host.

Installing Software

To add a new addon, follow these steps:

  1. Select the desired software from the list (e.g., a guestbook or WordPress).
  2. Enter the installation details (target directory, admin username, and password).
  3. Click Install. The system will automatically create the database and configure the necessary files.

Managing Existing Installations

If you have already installed software via this tool, you will find it in the "Installed cPAddons" section. Here you can:

  • Check for Updates: Keep your software secure by applying available updates immediately.
  • Change Passwords: Reset admin credentials for the installed software.
  • Uninstall: Cleanly remove packages from the server that are no longer needed.
Important Security Note: Since cPanel only provides software packages from third-party providers but does not develop them, the responsibility for application security (e.g., updates within WordPress) lies with the website operator.
