Manage Email Disk Usage and Free Up Space

If your email storage is running low, you don't have to delete every email individually. With the Email Disk Usage function in cPanel, you get a detailed overview of all folders and can specifically remove old or particularly large messages.

Email Disk Usage Overview

1. Select Mailbox

Select the desired email account from the Account dropdown menu. You will immediately see a list of all folders (Inbox, Sent, Trash, etc.) and their current storage usage.

Account Selection in cPanel

2. Targeted Cleaning (Remove Messages)

To free up space, click "Manage" next to the corresponding folder. cPanel offers predefined filters to safely perform bulk deletions:

1 year old or older Deletes all emails that are older than one year.
30 MB or larger Removes only the "storage hogs" with large attachments.
Previously viewed Deletes messages that have already been read.
All messages Empties the entire folder (use with caution!).
Pro Tip: Custom Query
Use the Dovecot search format for precise deletions. For example, enter larger 10M to find and remove all emails over 10 MB.

3. Permanent Deletion

Once you have selected an option, click "Delete Permanently".

Warning: This process cannot be undone. The messages are immediately removed from the server and do not go to the Trash folder.

Is your storage still full despite deleting? It might be time to upgrade your hosting package. The CURIAWEB team is happy to advise you!
