FTP Access Without Additional Software
Did you know that Windows has a built-in tool to transfer files to your web server? You don't need to install a separate FTP program. **Windows File Explorer** can connect directly to your CURIAWEB hosting, allowing you to move files as easily as using a USB stick.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Start the Explorer (e.g., via the folder icon in the taskbar or the keyboard shortcut
Windows Key + E).Click in the address bar at the top (where the path is normally displayed) and enter your address:
(Replace "yourdomain.ch" with your actual domain name)
A "Log on as" window will open. Enter your FTP username and the corresponding password here.
Tip: Check the box "Save password" if you want to use the connection more frequently.
Once the connection is established, you will see your web server folders (like
public_html). You can now simply drag files from your desktop into this window to upload them – just like with a normal Windows folder.Important Notes
File Explorer uses unencrypted FTP by default. For very sensitive data, we recommend using FileZilla with SFTP encryption.
Remember: Your website files almost always belong in the
public_html folder.Connection failed?
Ensure that no firewall is blocking port 21 or use Support.
