User-Friendly Data Transfer with Cyberduck

Cyberduck is an open-source client known for its ease of use and support for modern security protocols. It is available for both Windows and macOS and is excellent for managing your web content at CURIAWEB.

1. Download and Installation

Get the latest version directly from the official website:

2. Setting up the Server Connection

  1. Launch Cyberduck and click the "Open Connection" button at the top left.
  2. In the top dropdown menu, select the protocol FTP-SSL (Explicit AUTH TLS). This ensures that your data is transferred encrypted.
  3. Enter your connection details:
    • Server: ftp.yourdomain.ch (Replace this with your actual domain name).
    • Username: Your FTP username from cPanel.
    • Password: Your FTP password.
Pro Tip: Click the small arrow at "More Options". In the Path field, enter /public_html/ directly. This way, you will land immediately in the correct folder for your website files after logging in.

3. Certificate and Security

When connecting for the first time, a Certificate Validation window often appears. This is completely normal for encrypted connections.

  • Check the "Always trust" box and click "Continue".
  • Ensure the connection mode is set to Passive (PASV) if you encounter issues with your firewall.

4. Working with Your Files

Once the connection is established, Cyberduck lists your files. You can now:

  • Simply drag & drop files from your computer into the Cyberduck window to upload them.
  • Right-click existing files to delete, rename, or edit them directly in an editor.
