Efficient File Management with CoreFTP LE

CoreFTP LE is a free and very resource-efficient FTP solution for Windows users. The program is excellent for fast uploads and managing your web content on CURIAWEB servers.

1. Download and Installation

Download the latest version directly from the official website:

Follow the installation wizard and start the program from your desktop after installation.

2. Setting up a connection in the Site Manager

CoreFTP uses the "Site Manager" to securely store your connection data so you don't have to re-enter it every time.

  1. In the main window, click the Site Manager icon (the arrow key) at the top left.
  2. Click the "New Site" button to create a new profile for your website.
  3. Fill in the following fields:
    • Site Name: Any name for your website.
    • Host / IP / URL: Your domain (e.g., yourdomain.ch).
    • Username: Your FTP username from cPanel.
    • Password: The corresponding password.
    • Port: Default is 21 (or 22 for more secure SFTP).
  4. Click "Connect" to establish the connection.

3. Uploading files

Once the connection is established, you will see the classic two-column view:

  • Left (Local): The files on your Windows computer.
  • Right (Remote): The directories on the CURIAWEB server.
How to upload: Select the desired files on the left side and click the Upload icon (right arrow). Alternatively, you can simply drag & drop files from left to right.

4. Tips for CoreFTP

  • Status Window: Watch the bottom window. CoreFTP shows the progress of the transfer there.
  • Encryption: In the Site Manager under "Connection", select "AUTH TLS" if possible to transfer your data encrypted.
  • public_html: Remember to upload your files to the public_html folder so they are visible on the internet.
