Professional File Management with FileZilla

FileZilla is the world's most popular FTP solution. It is free, open-source, and available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. With FileZilla, you can manage your website data at CURIAWEB securely and efficiently.

1. Download

Always download the "FileZilla Client" version from the official project page:

2. Establishing a Connection (Quickconnect)

For fast access, use the bar at the top of the program:

  1. Host: Enter your domain (e.g., yourdomain.ch) or the server IP.
  2. Username: Your FTP username from cPanel.
  3. Password: Your FTP password.
  4. Port: Leave this field empty or enter 21.
  5. Click on "Quickconnect".
Security Note: If FileZilla asks about an "Unknown Certificate," confirm with "Always trust." This is due to the TLS encryption protecting your credentials.

3. Working with FileZilla

The program is divided into four main areas:

  • Top: The log window (displays error messages or success confirmations).
  • Left (Local): The files on your computer.
  • Right (Server): The files on the CURIAWEB server (navigate to the public_html folder here).
  • Bottom: The transfer queue (shows the progress of ongoing transfers).

4. File Transfer via Drag & Drop

Uploading and downloading is very simple:

Select the desired files on the left side and drag them with your mouse into the right window. FileZilla will start the transfer immediately. Once "Directory listing successful" appears at the bottom, your data is online.

Pro Tip: Use the Site Manager (icon at the very top left) to save your credentials permanently. This way, you won't have to re-enter the password every time you start the program.

Experiencing a "Time-out"?
Set the transfer mode to "Passive" in the Site Manager or contact our Support.
