Help Google Find You: The XML Sitemap

An XML sitemap helps search engines efficiently index all pages of your Magento shop. Magento 2 can automatically generate and update this file.

Sitemap Settings

Go to Stores > Configuration > Catalog > XML Sitemap. Here you can define:

  • Frequency: How often should the sitemap be updated (Daily/Weekly)?
  • Priority: What is the relative importance of categories, products, and CMS pages?
  • Images: Should images be included in the sitemap (recommended for Google Image Search)?

Automatic Generation

Under "Generation Settings", you can enable automatic creation. Magento uses the cron job for this, which is already pre-configured for you in our hosting packages.

Important: Submit the link to the generated sitemap (usually yourdomain.ch/sitemap.xml) directly in the Google Search Console.
