Moving Your Web Address from Cyon to CuriaWeb

By switching from Cyon to CuriaWeb, you have chosen a specialized Swiss hosting provider. To ensure that your visitors can reach you at your familiar domain, the connection in the my.cyon panel must be adjusted. Here, we explain the technical details for a smooth migration.

Option 1: Adjusting Nameservers in my.cyon

This method is ideal if you want to keep the domain registration with Cyon for the time being. You simply change the "signpost" to our server.

  1. Log in to the my.cyon customer portal.
  2. Select "Domain" from the menu and then choose the desired domain.
  3. Click on the "Nameserver" tab.
  4. Select "Use custom nameservers" and enter our addresses:
    • ns1.curiaweb.ch
    • ns2.curiaweb.ch
  5. Confirm your entry. Cyon will now update the DNS zone file accordingly.

Why we recommend a full transfer to CuriaWeb

A domain transfer to CuriaWeb offers the advantage that DNS entries for email (MX records), web (A records), and security certificates (SSL) are automatically synchronized. This prevents configuration errors that often occur when managing domains and hosting separately.

How to request the transfer from Cyon:

Go to the domain settings in your my.cyon account. There you will find the option "Show transfer code". Copy this Auth code. Make sure that the domain is no longer locked (Registrar Lock). You can use this code to initiate the transfer during our order process or via a CuriaWeb support ticket.

Important Note on Email Availability

Please note: If you only change the nameservers, your emails will also point to CuriaWeb in the future. Ensure that you have already created your email accounts in our cPanel so that no messages are lost. In the case of a complete transfer, we will be happy to assist you with the migration of your mailboxes.
