Understanding Domain Registration Terms

Unlike many other online subscriptions, the minimum term for domain registrations is strictly predefined by the global registries.

The 12-Month Rule

A domain cannot be registered or renewed for less than one year. This applies to almost all extensions such as .ch, .com, or .swiss. Monthly payment is technically not possible due to the requirements of the central registries.

Good to know: However, you can renew your domain for several years in advance (e.g., 2, 5, or 10 years for .com) to protect yourself against future price increases and minimize administrative effort.
