Renaming Domains: What is technically possible
In short: Once registered, a domain technically cannot be renamed or corrected (this also applies to typos).
The solution for name changes:
If you want a new name for your project or have made a spelling mistake, proceed as follows:
- Register the new, correct domain through our portal.
- Redirect the old domain (if it exists) to the new address so that visitors and Google can find their way.
- Cancel the old domain at the end of its term if you no longer need it.
Important: Since registration fees are paid immediately to the central registries, there are no refunds for erroneously registered names. Therefore, please double-check the spelling!
