Freshly Registered: The Activation Process
Congratulations on your new domain! There are technical reasons why it isn't accessible from the very first second.
What happens behind the scenes:
- Registration: CuriaWeb sends the order to the registry (e.g., Switch for .ch).
- Zone Entry: The registry must enter the domain into the global root zone. This happens at fixed intervals (usually hourly).
- DNS Provisioning: Our nameservers also need to activate the new zone first.
As a rule, a new .ch domain is accessible after 1-2 hours. With international extensions like .com, it can sometimes take a bit longer due to additional verification steps (email confirmation by the owner!).
