Check account activity: Review logins in the CURIAWEB Client Area
In the CURIAWEB Client Area, you can review when your customer account was accessed. Depending on the display, you may see information about successful and failed login attempts, the time of access and the IP address used. This overview helps you identify unusual activity more quickly and react if necessary.
Checking account activity is an important part of account security. Your Client Area contains sensitive information about products, domains, invoices, support requests and contact details. If unauthorised persons gain access to this account, this may create security and administrative risks.
Briefly explained: What does account activity show?
Account activity shows when login attempts for your Client Area took place. This allows you to check whether the listed access attempts match your own usage or whether suspicious entries are present.
Why is checking account activity useful?
A customer account for hosting and domains is a security-relevant access point. Depending on permissions, products can be managed, support requests viewed, invoices accessed and important customer data changed. For this reason, you should not only use a strong password, but also occasionally check whether recent access entries look plausible.
Unusual logins may have different explanations. Sometimes the entry comes from your own access using another device, a mobile network, a VPN connection or a different location. In other cases, however, an entry may indicate that credentials have been compromised or that someone attempted to log in without authorisation.
How to check account activity in the Client Area
The account activity overview can be found in the security area of your CURIAWEB Client Area. There you can review the displayed logins and login attempts.
Overview of the steps:
- Log in to the CURIAWEB Client Area.
- Click your name in the top right corner.
- Select “Security Settings”.
- Open the “Account Activity” section, if displayed.
- Review the listed logins and login attempts.
- Pay particular attention to unknown times, devices, locations or IP addresses.
Depending on the view, similar information may also be shown on the dashboard under an area such as “Recent Logins”. The important point is to compare the listed entries with your own usage.
What does the IP address mean?
An IP address is a technical address used to identify an internet connection. When you log in to the Client Area, the IP address used may be logged and displayed in the account activity. This helps roughly classify access attempts.
However, an IP address cannot always be clearly assigned to a single person or fixed location. Internet providers may assign dynamic IP addresses, mobile networks may use changing addresses and VPN services can change the visible location. An unknown IP address is therefore not automatically proof of misuse, but it should be checked.
Important: If you cannot recognise an IP address or login, first check whether you accessed the account yourself using another device, internet connection, mobile network or VPN connection.
Successful and failed login attempts
Account activity may list successful and failed login attempts. Successful logins show that access to your account took place. Failed login attempts may indicate that a password was entered incorrectly or that someone tried to log in without valid credentials.
A single failed attempt may be harmless, for example if you mistyped your password yourself. Several failed attempts, especially at unusual times or from unknown networks, should be taken seriously. In such cases, it is advisable to change your password and enable two-factor authentication.
What should you do if you see an unknown login?
If you see a successful login that you cannot explain, act quickly. First change your Client Area password and use a strong, unique password that you do not use for any other service. Then check your contact details, open support tickets, products and invoices for unusual changes.
Also enable two-factor authentication if it is not already active. This protects login with a second security factor in addition to the password. Even if someone knows your password, access to your account is much harder without the second factor.
Recommendation: If you see an unexplained successful login, change the password immediately, enable 2FA and inform CURIAWEB Support if you notice changes or further anomalies.
Additional protection for your customer account
Account activity is only one part of account security. It is also essential to protect your credentials carefully. Use a strong password, store it securely and do not share it with third parties. If possible, use a password manager to create long and random passwords.
Two-factor authentication is highly recommended. You can also find it in the security settings of your Client Area. In addition, make sure the email address stored in your Client Area is up to date and well protected, as it may be used for important notifications and password recovery.
When should you contact support?
Contact CURIAWEB Support if you cannot explain a successful login, notice unusual changes in your account or suspect that your password has been compromised. The more precisely you describe the anomaly, the better the case can be reviewed.
If possible, provide the time of the suspicious login, the displayed IP address and any changes or irregularities you noticed. For security reasons, never include passwords or 2FA codes in a support ticket.
Regular checks improve security
It is useful to check account activity from time to time, especially after travelling, changing devices, changing passwords or receiving a suspicious email. A quick review can help detect unusual access early.
Combined with a strong password, an up-to-date Client Area email address and enabled two-factor authentication, regularly reviewing account activity significantly improves the security of your CURIAWEB account.
