Cancel a Service: Request Cancellation in the CURIAWEB Client Area
If you no longer wish to continue an active service with CURIAWEB, you can request the cancellation directly in your CURIAWEB client area. This ensures that the cancellation request is clearly assigned to the correct product and that you receive a confirmation by email after submitting it. This structured process helps avoid misunderstandings and makes it clear which service is to be cancelled.
Of course, we are sorry if you would like to cancel a CURIAWEB service. At the same time, it is important to us that the process remains transparent, traceable, and as simple as possible for you. Especially when several products are managed in one customer account, it is important to select the correct service carefully. These may include hosting products, add-on services, or other services listed separately in the client area.
In brief: Where is a cancellation submitted?
A cancellation is requested in the CURIAWEB client area for the respective service. Open Services > My Services, select the relevant product, and then click Request Cancellation under Actions.
Why is cancellation handled through the client area?
Cancelling through the client area ensures that the request is directly linked to the correct service. This is important because different products can have different technical effects. Hosting, a domain, or another service are not automatically the same product and may be managed separately.
By submitting the cancellation request in the client area, it is clearly documented which product is affected. After submitting the request, you will receive a confirmation by email. This confirmation serves as a traceable indication that your request has been submitted.
How to request cancellation of a service
The cancellation is initiated directly from the affected product in the CURIAWEB client area. Proceed carefully and check before submitting that you have selected the service you really want to cancel.
Procedure overview:
- Log in to the CURIAWEB client area with your access details.
- Go to Services -> My Services.
- Select the product you would like to cancel.
- In the left sidebar under Actions, click Request Cancellation.
- Briefly describe the reason for cancellation if you wish. This information is optional.
- Select the desired cancellation type.
- Confirm the request. You will then receive a confirmation by email.
Which cancellation types are available?
When submitting the cancellation request, you choose how the cancellation should be carried out. Two options are available in the client area: Immediate or End of Billing Period.
- Immediate: The service will be shut down at short notice. Data associated with the service may be deleted.
- End of Billing Period: The service remains active until the already paid date and will not be renewed afterwards.
Which option is suitable depends on whether you still want to use the service until the end of the already paid term. Cancellation at the end of the billing period is often appropriate if you want the service to expire in an orderly manner. Immediate cancellation should be selected deliberately, as the service will be ended at short notice and data may be deleted.
Recommendation: Before choosing immediate cancellation, check whether you have backed up all required data, files, emails, databases, or settings.
What does “End of Billing Period” mean?
If you choose cancellation at the end of the billing period, the service remains active until the already paid date. Only after that will it no longer be renewed. This option is suitable if you still want to use the service during the remaining term or need time to back up content, transfer data, or make organisational adjustments.
This option helps avoid an abrupt interruption. Especially for hosting products, it can be sensible not to end the service immediately, but first to ensure that all required data has been fully backed up or moved elsewhere.
What does “Immediate” mean?
With immediate cancellation, the service is shut down at short notice. Data associated with the service may be deleted. This option should therefore only be selected if you are sure that the relevant service is no longer needed and all important content has been backed up.
If the service was used for a website, email usage, or other data, you should carefully check before immediate cancellation whether important information is still present. After shutdown, the service can no longer be used as before.
Important note: Cancelling hosting does not automatically cancel the associated domain. Domains must be managed and cancelled separately.
Why do domains have to be cancelled separately?
Domains are subject to the rules and processes of the respective registries. Therefore, a domain is not automatically terminated simply because a hosting product is cancelled. Hosting and domains are technically and administratively separate services and must therefore be considered separately.
If you cancel hosting but no longer need the associated domain either, check the domain separately in your customer account. This is the only way to ensure that a hosting service is not ended while the domain continues to exist unintentionally.
Check carefully before submitting
Before confirming the cancellation request, check again whether the correct service has been selected. Also verify whether the chosen cancellation type matches your situation. If you want to continue using the service until the already paid date, choose cancellation at the end of the billing period. If you want immediate termination, all relevant data should be backed up beforehand.
After submitting the request, you will receive a confirmation by email. Keep this email so that you can refer back to the process later if needed.
Summary
Cancellation of a CURIAWEB service is requested directly in the client area under Services > My Services for the relevant product. You can choose between immediate cancellation and cancellation at the end of the billing period. With immediate cancellation, the service may be shut down at short notice and data may be deleted. Cancelling hosting does not automatically cancel an associated domain; domains must be managed and cancelled separately.
