Blacklist in SpamExperts: Blocking Unwanted Senders

With the Blacklist or Sender Block List in SpamExperts, you can specifically block unwanted senders. This is useful if you no longer want to receive messages from a particular email address or domain.

The blacklist is especially suitable for recurring spam sources, unwanted contacts or senders whose messages you permanently do not want delivered to your mailbox.

What is the Sender Block List?

The Sender Block List is a list of blocked senders. Emails from listed addresses or domains are handled more strictly by the spam filter and usually no longer reach your mailbox.

  • Block a single email address: Useful if only one specific sender should be blocked, for example name@example.com.
  • Block an entire domain: Useful if you do not want to receive any emails from an entire domain, for example example.com.
Important: Block entire domains only with caution. If you block a domain, legitimate emails from other senders using that domain may also be affected.

Blocking senders via the SpamExperts Dashboard

To block a sender, open the Incoming section in the SpamExperts Dashboard and select Sender Block List.

  1. Log in to the SpamExperts Dashboard.
  2. Open the Incoming section.
  3. Select Sender Block List.
  4. Enter the desired email address or domain.
  5. Save the change.

When should the blacklist be used?

  • When a specific sender repeatedly sends unwanted emails.
  • When a specific domain sends only spam or unwanted messages.
  • When you are sure that you do not expect legitimate emails from an address.
  • When spam repeatedly comes from the same source despite filtering.

Blacklist, spam training or quarantine?

The blacklist specifically blocks certain senders or domains. Spam training, on the other hand, helps the filter recognise similar messages more accurately based on their characteristics. The quarantine holds back suspicious messages without delivering them directly to your mailbox.

If unwanted emails always come from the same sender, the blacklist is useful. If they are changing spam messages with a similar pattern, you should also train the filter.

The benefit for your mailbox:

Depending on the settings, blocked emails are blocked or rejected before they reach your mailbox. This keeps your mailbox clearer and unwanted messages are filtered out more consistently.

Protection in both directions: If you also want to prevent your own account from sending spam unnoticed in the event of a security issue, we recommend our outgoing filtering.

Important notes about the blacklist

  • Only add senders if you are sure that you do not expect legitimate messages from them.
  • Block entire domains only if all senders from that domain are truly unwanted.
  • Do not use the blacklist as a replacement for proper spam training.
  • For important senders, check the log search first before setting up a block.
