Your web space as a local drive

Web Disk (based on the WebDAV protocol) allows you to manage your files on the server as easily as on a local hard drive or a USB stick. Instead of using an FTP program, you mount the storage space directly into your Windows Explorer or macOS Finder.

cPanel Web Disk Overview
The big advantage: You can create separate Web Disk accounts for employees or clients. These individuals gain access to specific folders without you having to share your main cPanel login credentials.

Creating an additional account

  1. Go to Files -> Web Disk.
  2. Choose a username and a strong password (use the generator).
  3. Specify the Directory. By default, a new folder is created for the user.
  4. Choose the permissions:
    • Read/Write: Full access to files.
    • Read-Only: Files can only be viewed and downloaded.
  5. Click Create.

Connecting (Client Configuration)

cPanel makes setup very easy. Click "Configure Client Access" next to the respective account. There you can:

  • Select your operating system (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).
  • Download a configuration script that handles the setup for you automatically.
  • View the manual connection details (server address, port 2078 for SSL).

Special Case: Digest Authentication

Using Windows? If you want to access the disk via an unencrypted connection, you must enable Digest Authentication.

Recommendation: If you have a valid SSL certificate (HTTPS) on your domain (standard at CURIAWEB), always use the encrypted connection via port 2078. In this case, Digest Authentication is usually not necessary.

Security & Restrictions

Main Account The default account corresponds to your cPanel login and cannot be deleted.
Ports Encrypted (SSL): Port 2078 | Unencrypted: Port 2077.
Storage Space Windows sometimes displays incorrect storage values because WebDAV cannot always query the server capacity exactly.

Automatic setup failing?
Check if your local firewall is blocking port 2078 or contact CURIAWEB support for manual instructions.
