Duplicate Content: Why Copying Harms Your Site

Google loves originality. When the same text appears on several of your subpages (or even on other websites), it is called Duplicate Content. This can lead to Google not knowing which page is the most important – in the worst case, your site may be penalized.

Common Traps:

  • Manufacturer Descriptions: Do not copy texts directly from the manufacturer into your shop. Always rewrite them!
  • Multiple URLs: If your site is accessible via both http and https, Google sees them as two different pages.
  • Text Modules: Avoid using huge, identical blocks of text on every page.
The MarketGoo Check: MarketGoo detects when content within your website is too identical and provides a warning so you can individualize the text.
