301 Redirects: Migrating Correctly Without Losing Rankings

If you delete a subpage or change a URL (e.g., from /old-page to /new-page), you must inform Google that the content has moved. For this, a 301 Redirect (Permanent Redirect) is used.

Important: Without a redirect, the page loses all previously collected Google rankings, and the user lands on an error page.

When do you need a redirect?

  • When changing the permalink structure.
  • When switching from an old domain to a new one.
  • When combining two similar articles into one large guide.

MarketGoo helps you identify pages that lead to dead ends and reminds you to set up the necessary redirects in your cPanel or CMS.
