Using webmail: managing emails directly in the browser

Reading time approx.: 4 minutes

With Webmail you can read, write and manage your CURIAWEB emails directly in the browser. You don't need any additional email program like Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird.

Webmail is particularly convenient if you want to access your emails while on the go or check if your email account is basically working.

Open webmail directly via your domain #

The easiest way is directly via your domain. Add your domain in the browser with /webmail:

https://deine-domain.ch/webmail

Replace your-domain.ch through your own domain. Afterward, the webmail login appears.

For the login you need the following access data:

FieldEntry
UsernameYour complete email address, for example info@deine-domain.ch
PasswordThe password of the corresponding email account

Always use your full email address and not just the part before the @ symbol.

Open Webmail via cPanel #

If you are already logged in to cPanel, you can also open Webmail directly from your email account management.

  1. Log in to cPanel a.
  2. Open the section „Email accounts“.
  3. Find the desired email account.
  4. Click on the corresponding account „Check Email“ or rather. „Check email“.
  5. The webmail interface for the selected mailbox will be opened.

When you open Webmail this way, you usually do not have to enter the email account password again.

Read and write emails #

After logging in, you can manage your mailbox directly in the browser. The most important features include:

  • Inbox: Read and manage received emails
  • Writing: Compose new emails
  • Answers: Reply to received messages
  • Forward: Forward messages to other recipients
  • Sent: Show already sent messages
  • Folder: Organize and archive messages
  • Spam and Trash: Check unwanted or deleted messages

Set up sender name and signature #

In Roundcube, you can configure your displayed sender name and your email signature.

To do this, open in Roundcube Settings and then the area Identities. Select your existing identity there. Among other things, you can edit your display name and signature there.

A business signature may contain the following information, for example:

  • Name and function
  • Company or organization
  • Phone number
  • Website
  • Business address, if required

Keep your signature as compact as possible. Very large images and unnecessarily extensive content can affect the display for the recipient.

Manage folders, spam, and trash #

Webmail is also suitable for directly managing the folders stored on the mail server. If you also use your email account on other devices or in an email program via IMAP, these folders are normally synchronized between the devices.

Check the following areas in particular:

  • Spam Check if an expected message accidentally ended up there.
  • Recycle Bin Permanently delete no longer needed messages if you want to free up storage space.
  • Sent: Messages with large attachments can take up a lot of storage space.
  • Custom folders: Use folders to keep your messages organized.

Use webmail for troubleshooting #

If Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or another email program is not working, webmail is a helpful first test.

SituationWhat you should check
Webmail login worksThe email account and the login credentials used are basically working. Check the settings of your email program.
Webmail login is not workingCheck the full email address and the password. If necessary, you can change the email account password in cPanel.
Webmail works, but Outlook or Apple Mail does notCheck in particular the username, password, mail server, ports, and encryption in the email program.

If webmail works but your email program does not, this is a good indication that the cause might lie in the configuration of the email program.

If an email is missing #

If you cannot find an expected message in your inbox, first check the spam folder as well as any existing filters and other folders in your mailbox.

If you also use the same email account in Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or on a smartphone, check there as well to see if messages were moved or deleted.

When your inbox is full #

A full mailbox can affect the reception of new emails. Therefore, delete unneeded emails and check in particular messages with large attachments.

Empty the trash and spam folders if necessary, as the messages they contain can still take up storage space.

Using webmail securely #

  • Use a strong and unique password for your email account.
  • Log out completely from unfamiliar devices after use.
  • Do not save your password on public or foreign devices.
  • Check the address in the browser before entering your login credentials.
  • Use webmail only via an encrypted HTTPS connection.

If you cannot log in to Webmail or your email account is not working as expected, please contact CURIAWEB Support. Please let us know as precisely as possible which email address is affected and what error message is displayed.
