Briefly explained: cPanel is the control panel for your web hosting. You can use it to conveniently make changes to your website, files, email accounts, databases, or PHP settings via your browser, without having to manage the server via a command line.
What is cPanel? #
cPanel is a web-based management interface for web hosting. Instead of configuring server functions via command-line instructions, cPanel provides graphical tools for this purpose.
You can use it, for example, to create a new email account, upload files, create a database, change the PHP version of a website, or check the resource usage of your hosting account.

The website builder is aimed in particular at users who want to design a website themselves without having to install a content management system like WordPress.

Email #
In the field of Email you manage the email functions of your domains. This includes not only the actual mailboxes, but also forwarding, filters, automatic replies, and tools for diagnosing email delivery.
Email accounts #
Under Email accounts do you create and manage your personal mailboxes, for example info@deine-domain.ch. Here you can, among other things, create new accounts, change passwords, and manage the available storage space of a mailbox.
Redirects #
With Redirects Can you automatically forward incoming messages to another email address? For example, a message sent to a specific address can be forwarded additionally or exclusively to another mailbox.
Email routing #
The Email routing determines which mail server is responsible for email delivery for a domain. This setting is particularly important when emails are not processed on the CURIAWEB server, but by an external mail provider.
Important: Do not change the email routing on a whim. An incorrect setting can cause messages for your domain to no longer be delivered correctly.
Automated answering service #
With the Automatic answering service Can you automatically reply to incoming messages? A typical use case is an out-of-office message during holidays or company shutdowns.
Default address #
The Default address determines what happens to messages sent to a non-existent address on your domain. Among other things, you can specify whether such messages are rejected or forwarded to a specific address.
Mailing lists #
With Mailing lists messages can be distributed to a group of recipients. This feature is intended for classic discussion and mailing lists and is not equivalent to a professional newsletter system.
Track delivery #
Track delivery is an important diagnostic tool. With it, you can examine how the mail server processed a message and whether an error occurred during delivery.
Global email filters #
Global email filters apply at the cPanel account level. They allow incoming messages to be processed automatically based on specific conditions.
Email filter #
With Email filtering Can you create rules for individual email accounts? For example, messages can be processed based on the sender, subject, or other criteria.
Email deliverability #
Under Email deliverability can you check important technical settings of your domains that influence the authentication and delivery of emails. This includes in particular SPF- and DKIM-related configurations.

With the File manager Can you manage files directly in the browser. You can upload, download, copy, move, edit, compress or delete files and create new directories.
Pictures #

With Folder data privacy you can protect certain directories with an additional login using username and password.
Storage usage #

Why can cPanel look different with another provider? #
Hosting providers can enable or disable certain cPanel features. In addition, installed extensions can add further tools to the interface.
Therefore, cPanel with another hosting provider does not necessarily have the same features or layout as your cPanel with CURIAWEB.

Which cPanel features do you use the most? #
For the normal operation of a website, you only need some of the available tools on a regular basis.
Frequently used features include email accounts, file managers, FTP accounts, domains, phpMyAdmin, PHP settings, and resource or error displays, for example.
Other functions such as Apache handlers, Perl modules, remote database access, or dynamic DNS are intended for special technical use cases and can be left completely untouched by many customers.
Do not change settings at random in case of technical problems #
cPanel provides access to numerous settings that can directly impact your website, email delivery, or domains.
Therefore, if a website or service is not working, you should not change multiple settings at the same time.
A systematic approach is much safer: pinpoint errors precisely, check relevant logs and settings, make one change, and then test again.
Important: Specifically changes to DNS, email routing, PHP, file permissions,
.htaccess, databases, and security features can have a direct impact on live websites and services. For critical changes, create a backup beforehand and only modify settings whose function you know.
