Reading time approx.: 5 minutes

Die in your CURIAWEB Customer Center The registered e-mail address is an important part of your customer account. It is used for login, important notifications, billing information, support communication, and the recovery of your access.

For security reasons, this email address cannot be changed directly in the customer center. If you would like to update your address, please contact CURIAWEB via a support ticket. After the change, the new email address must be confirmed or verified.

Briefly explained: The email address of your CURIAWEB customer account cannot be changed by yourself. Please open a support ticket and let us know your desired new address. We will make the change after appropriate verification.

Why is the registered email address so important? #

The email address of your customer account is used for various administrative and security-related processes. For example, you will receive important information about your products, invoices, and support requests through it.

The address is especially important for recovering your access. If you forget your password, the message to reset your password will be sent to the email address on file.

Therefore, you should use an address for your customer account that you have permanent access to and that is reliably reachable.

Important: The email address of your CURIAWEB customer account is not the same as an email mailbox of your web hosting. A mailbox like info@deine-domain.ch is managed separately via cPanel.

How to request the change of your email address #

The change is made via CURIAWEB Support. If you still have access to your customer center, you should submit the request directly from your logged-in customer account.

Procedure at a glance:

  1. Log in to CURIAWEB Customer Center a.
  2. Open a new support ticket.
  3. Let us know that you would like to change the email address of your customer account.
  4. State the desired new email address.
  5. Waiting for feedback from CURIAWEB support.
  6. Confirm or verify the new email address when prompted.

We explain in detail how to create a support ticket in the manual. Create a support ticket in the CURIAWEB customer center.

Why can't the email address simply be changed by yourself? #

Changing the email address affects more than just receiving messages. The address is linked to security-relevant functions of your customer account and is used, among other things, for logging in and recovering access.

If a person with access to an open customer account could change the stored address without further verification, this could facilitate a customer account takeover. Therefore, the change is reviewed by CURIAWEB.

Safety: The manual change by support serves to protect your customer account. A change is particularly critical if, at the same time, there is no longer access to the previously registered email address.

The new email address must be confirmed #

After the change, the new email address must be confirmed or verified. This checks whether the address is correct, can receive messages, and you have access to the corresponding mailbox.

Therefore, check your new email inbox after the change. If the confirmation message is not visible, also check the spam or junk folder as well as any email filters you may have set up.

Note: For your customer account, please use an email address that you have permanent access to. Also, protect this email account with a strong password and, if available, two-factor authentication.

Does this also change your login? #

Yes. If the stored e-mail address is used as the username for your CURIAWEB customer center, you will log in after the change with the new email address a.

Your password will not be changed automatically by changing your email address. You will generally continue to use your existing password.

If you no longer know your password, you can reset it separately. You can find the individual steps at Reset password for the CURIAWEB customer center.

What is not changed by the modification? #

The change affects your CURIAWEB customer account. It does not automatically change the technical email addresses and mailboxes of your web hosting.

For example, unaffected by this are:

  • Email mailboxes of your domains
  • Passwords of your email accounts
  • Email forwarding
  • Autoresponder
  • Mailing lists
  • other email settings within cPanel

For example, if you enter the customer center address of max@beispiel.ch on office@beispiel.ch can be changed, no email mailbox of the same name is created, deleted or modified thereby.

Customer center or cPanel? In the CURIAWEB customer center, you manage your customer account, products, domains, invoices, and support requests. Your actual hosting email accounts, on the other hand, are managed in cPanel.

What to do if you no longer have access to the old email address? #

If you no longer have access to the previously registered email address, you should explicitly state this when contacting us. In this case, an additional identity or authorization check may be required.

This verification serves to protect your customer account. CURIAWEB must be able to ensure that the change is actually requested by the authorized account holder or a correspondingly authorized person.

Important: Do not send copies of IDs, passwords, or other sensitive documents without being asked. If additional information is needed for the review, we will let you know what is specifically required.

After the change: Check security settings #

Once the new email address has been saved and confirmed, you should log in to the customer center with the new address and check whether everything is working as expected.

Take this opportunity to also check your other contact details and security settings. We particularly recommend activating two-factor authentication, as this requires an additional security factor for logging in in addition to your password.

We explain the setup step by step at Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) in the customer portal.

Do not rush to delete your old email address #

If you manage your previous email address yourself and want to deactivate it later, you should wait until the change is fully complete. First, check whether the new address has been confirmed and you can successfully log in to the customer center with it.

Also check whether important messages or documents are still in the old mailbox. Only when the switchover is complete and the new address is working reliably should you finally decommission the old address.
