Insert images and galleries in the Kopage website builder

Reading time approx. 1 minute

With the Kopage website builder, you can insert images directly into your website and present multiple images in galleries. Images can be uploaded, selected, and then edited directly in the editor.

In this guide, we will show you how to insert individual images and galleries in Kopage, and what you should pay attention to regarding image size and alt texts.

1. Insert a single image #

  1. Open the desired page in the Kopage website builder.
  2. Switch to the edit mode of the page.
  3. Insert at the desired position Image element Added.
  4. Select an existing image or upload a new image.
  5. Then, adapt the image to match the design of your site.

Depending on the layout used, you can adjust the size, position, and appearance of the image, among other things.

2. Insert multiple images as a gallery #

If you want to present multiple images together, you can use a gallery for this purpose.

  1. Open the desired page in editing mode.
  2. Insert at the desired position Gallery element Added.
  3. Select the images that should appear in the gallery.
  4. Upload additional images if needed.
  5. Arrange the images in the desired order.
  6. Save your changes.

For example, a gallery is suitable for references, products, events, premises, or other content where multiple images belong together.

3. Prepare images for your website #

Do not upload unnecessarily large images to your website. Very large image files require more storage space and can increase the loading time of your pages.

Therefore, before uploading, you should check:

  • Does the image size fit the intended use?
  • Is the file size as small as possible without the visible quality suffering?
  • Are you using a suitable image format?
  • Is the file name clear and meaningful?

Modern, web-optimized image formats are suitable for photos. For graphics or images with transparency, a different format may be useful depending on the subject.

Tip: There is no fixed file size that is optimal for every image. A small thumbnail requires significantly less data than a large-scale header image. What matters is a good balance between image quality, dimensions, and file size.

4. Use alt texts for images #

If Kopage for an image enters a Alt Texts if possible, you should use this sensibly for relevant images.

The alt text briefly describes what can be seen in the image or what functional role the image serves. It especially supports visitors who use screen readers and helps search engines categorize the image content.

A good alt text describes the image specifically and naturally.

Example:

Mountain landscape in Graubünden with a view of the Calanda near Chur

Avoid keyword-stuffed descriptions or texts that have nothing to do with the actual image content.

5. Save changes and check the website #

Save your changes and then check the page outside of the editor as well.

Pay particular attention to how your images are displayed on different screen sizes. An image that looks good on a large screen may be cropped or arranged differently on a smartphone.

Therefore, check both the desktop and mobile versions of your website after major changes.
